Nokia Nuron 5230

Nokia 5230 Nuron is a full touch-screen smartphone from T-Mobile that you can get for $69.99 including a two-year contract.

The size of the Nuron compiles 2.03 inches wide by 0.61 inch thick. The weight is 3.98 ounces. The smartphone is of a standard candy bar shape. There are several controls on the sides of the handset.

The Nuron has a 3.2-inch touch screen with a 640×360-pixel resolution and supports 16 million hues. We did not like that the screen washes out in bright sun and also that is a bit small, when you need to write a message.

The Nuron supports Ovi Maps, so you can get free and paid downloads of different applications, audio, video, games and so on. The main function is maps. You will get an opportunity to reach maps even if you are not online. There are 9 options in the Ovi: My Position, Share Location, Events, Find Places, Drive, Walk, Favorites, Weather, and Lonely Planet. You can see the maps in 2D, 3D, terrain view or satellite and that is all for free.

The phone supports Bluetooth 2.0, Flash Lite 3.0, IMAP, POP3, and SMTP e-mail accounts.

The player of Nuron shows video and plays music in MP3, MP4, WMA, WMV9, AAC, eAAC+, MPEG4-SP, MPEG4-AVC. The camera is 2-megapixel. It has no flash. However, the camera shoots video at 30 frames per second. The quality of the clips is good enough, but we can’t say the same about the photo quality as the colors look washed out.

The pluses of the Nokia 5230 Nuron include: free maps and great navigation with the help of Ovi Maps, in fact, it is the first Nokia smartphone that offers Ovi in the U.S.A., admirable call quality, 3G, and the most important, quite reasonable price.

There is no Wi-Fi and a document viewer in the Nuron. The interface is a bit confusing. The camera lacks a flash.

The Nokia 5230 Nuron is a smartphone which does not ptovide high performance, but it is a real bargain for people who do not need the most advanced and a top one. Nevertheless, the Nuron’s features such as Ovi Maps support make it a great deal.

This cousin of the 5800 trades wi-fi and some camera resolution for a more affordable price tag. This smartphone is otherwise full-featured, including a large touch display, 2-megapixel camera, GPS navigation, memory card slot, and accelerometer.
